Miko

Border Collie · Male · Adult · 8 years

Miko is a sweet boy who is hoping to find a family who will take the time to get to know him. He will thrive in a quiet and peaceful home where he can still enjoy his walkies and lots of playtime. Miko is currently on medication and has some ongoing medical needs, our rehoming team would be happy to discuss this with any potential adopters. Miko is a 7 year old Collie who is on the search for his perfect, peaceful forever home. As a older gent, he prefers a slice of the quiet life and can find lots of hustle and bustle overwhelming. He'd love nothing more than a relaxed adult only home with minimal visitors. Miko isn't quite as confident as he might seem and much prefers a hands off approach. It's important his new family are able to understand and read his body language to help him feel more at ease. Miko loves his food and has been learning lots of new things, including wearing his muzzle out and about on his walkies. He is housetrained and has previously been left for a full working day with no issues. He prefers walks in quieter areas without too much traffic and in low dog populated areas. Miko is quite happy to jump into the car to travel to quieter areas. He'll need to be the only pet in his forever home with access to his own secure and private garden. Miko LOVES his toys and will happily play and keep himself entertained, he will also happily drop a toy for his carers to join in with playtime! About Miko

What life with Miko looks like

Miko is a medium-sized adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: On ongoing medication with medical needs. Requires muzzle for walks. Needs quiet, low-traffic walking areas and adult-only home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
