Mischling Sunny &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

I am female, neutered, vaccinated, and born around 2004. I am approximately 35cm tall. I have been waiting since June 2015 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Sunny is an intake from the veterinary office from disordered circumstances. Overall, Sunny was loved, but not adequately medically cared for. So, fleas and lice were clearly visible, but an allergy test was not necessary after appropriate treatment and high-quality feeding. Her blood values are very good despite her age, and the removal of a circumference growth on her hind leg, which had formed, is still pending, ideally a benign senior spot. Sunny has lived with several cats and was rarely alone. When she hears bipeds nearby, she loudly and persistently announces that she would like to be part of the group. Otherwise, she also stays quite well alone, preferably in the company of another dog or cats. She enjoys walks, which do not have to be brisk, but she is still pleasantly fit for her age. She can't wait to get going and often barks in a hurry. Occasionally, she is a bit independent, trying to assert herself if it doesn't immediately go as she wishes. Otherwise, it seems that Sunny is already a bit in her own world, relishing in memories. Despite this, she is particularly popular with children, as she naturally enjoys every pat and walks nicely on the leash. Who would like to give the little Sunny another chance at a peaceful life and pleasant hours in the green and on the couch…? Addition October 2015: The removal of the circumference growth on the leg also revealed further tissue changes in the mammary line, which were now partially removed along with the leg. Sunny's time is therefore limited, and a place for her twilight years must be found.

About Mischling Sunny &#8211

What life with Mischling Sunny &#8211 looks like

Mischling Sunny &#8211 is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mischling Sunny &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mischling Sunny &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mischling Sunny &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mischling Sunny &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mischling Sunny &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mischling Sunny &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mischling Sunny &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
