Nigel

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 5 years

Nigel is a fun-loving French Bulldog with plenty of personality. He Is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor Nigel is a happy-go-lucky boy who hasn’t had any trouble making friends with everyone he’s met so far. He loves a gentle shoulder scratch, which is usually quickly followed by him rolling onto his back in the hope of a tummy rub. In his previous home, Nigel was a laid-back boy who enjoyed spending his time snoozing in a warm, cosy bed or searching out the perfect sunny spot where he can relax and soak up the warmth. Nigel has shown lovely social skills with a wide variety of dogs during his time at Battersea. He can be both friendly and independent with other dogs, enjoying company while also being happy doing his own thing. Nigel has previously lived successfully with another dog and has always enjoyed canine company in the home. Nigel could happily live with another dog of a similar nature, one who enjoys a play and a fuss, but is also able to settle calmly at home alongside him. Any new owners would need to speak to a Battersea vet prior to rehoming. Nigel has plenty of love to share. He’s sure to bring lots of fun and companionship to his new home. About Nigel

What life with Nigel looks like

Nigel is a small adult english bulldog dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nigel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nigel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nigel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nigel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nigel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nigel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nigel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
