Palmer

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Palmer is a handsome dog from Hungary. He was not wanted anymore and wandered around the streets of Lajosmizse, lost and disoriented. Kind passersby called the shelter, and Palmer was immediately picked up. Fortunately, he was easy to catch and was visibly happy about his rescue. Since July 13, 2026, he has been waiting "behind bars" for a positive turn in his life. He is longing for his humans, who will show him the sunny sides of life and never leave him behind. Palmer is a fine fellow. He is sweet, friendly, open, agile, and simply a great dog who brings a lot of joy and is in the wrong place at the shelter, like all dogs. Palmer enjoys every caress and human affection and would like to have more of it. He can walk on a leash quite well, but still needs to improve. Palmer still needs to do his homework with his new two-legged friends, but it will definitely be a lot of fun to learn and practice with him, because he wants to please, learn, and just be with his humans. He wants to be engaged and promoted in a dog-friendly way and go on an adventure with his humans. He is ready for any adventure. He gets along well with his fellow dogs and is currently (August 6, 2026) being integrated into a mixed pack. We are looking for loving and adventurous people who like to be outdoors with Palmer. Palmer would also be a great companion for jogging, hiking, cycling, or similar activities, as long as dog and human have fun and a good time together. In addition, many cuddle hours, games, fun, enough rest, full family connection, and Palmer can finally enjoy his life carefree, protected, and carefree. Who will conquer the world with Palmer? Palmer can travel from around the beginning/middle of September 2026 if he has found a home or a foster home.

About Palmer

What life with Palmer looks like

Palmer is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Palmer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Palmer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Palmer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Palmer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Palmer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Palmer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Palmer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
