Anakin - a quiet fighter seeks his home! Meet him in 95189 Köditz! In Germany since: November 2025 Pflegestelle in: 95189 Köditz Estimated age: born around March 2024 Estimated shoulder height: around 55 cm Learn about Filou directly in the video! Anakin - a quiet fighter seeks his home! Meet him in 95189 Köditz! When Anakin was in the killing station, he was barely more than a shadow of himself: cold, coughing, trembling and so exhausted that he fell asleep while sitting. A life that almost no one would have noticed. But Anakin could be saved! Today he lives on a foster home in Germany and can finally show who he really is: a sensitive, cautious, but also curious young male, who rediscovers the world with quiet steps. He gently sniffs at hands, checks if he can trust and then thaws a little more every day. Indoors he likes to play, chews enthusiastically on his squeaky toys and gently taps fingers to ask if there might be a small treat hidden somewhere. Outdoors Anakin shows joy in exploring, but also orients himself well to his person and often looks up to make sure everything is okay. When he realizes that it is going out, his tail begins to wag quietly, but happily - and in the snow he gets small zoomies that make him look like a puppy again. Anakin also shows good social behavior with other animals. He plays playfully with the foster home's female dog, greets the senior dog politely and respects boundaries without problems. With strange dogs he is initially cautious, but remains calm and can be easily led past. Even cats could be an option with careful habituation. In his new home Anakin wants to continue learning and discovering. He needs time and people who enjoy celebrating every small progress with him. A rural home would be ideal for him, preferably with a garden, but this is not absolutely necessary. Older and quiet children are also conceivable and a confident first dog would be a nice bonus. We are looking for people for this fur nose who are aware that shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict in the animal shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance and benevolence. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts instead of buying, not only gives an animal a second chance, but also decides actively against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by his side. Already in love? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about an adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-free and neutered (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs) before departure. Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, please write a message to our placement team.

In Deutschland seit: November 2025 Auf Pflegestelle in: 95189 Köditz Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. März 2024 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 55 cm Lerne hier Filou direkt im Video kennen! Anakin - ein leiser Kämpfer sucht sein Zuhause! Lerne ihn in 95189 Köditz kennen!

About Pflegehund Anakin

What life with Pflegehund Anakin looks like

Pflegehund Anakin is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Anakin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Anakin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Anakin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Anakin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pflegehund Anakin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Anakin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Anakin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
