Pompon

Male · Young · 3 years

Pompon is a dog who in life is most missing... peace. Everything about him is currently at high speed - emotions, movement, reactions. As if he had to cope on his own for a long time and never learned that the world can slow down. He is wonderful with people: obedient, very contact-oriented, thirsty for attention and closeness. He is looking for support, reacts to the presence of a caregiver, wants to cooperate. Unfortunately, he completely doesn't handle relationships with other dogs - on a leash he flails, emotions quickly get out of control. In the kennel he paces, compulsive behaviors appear, clearly showing how overwhelmed he is with the situation he's in. Pompon is about 3 years old. He was found on the street - neglected, with matted fur, somewhat resembling a Pomeranian and very in need of a groomer. This is a dog who doesn't need more stimuli or challenges, but a safe, predictable home where someone will help calm his mind and body. Pompon was already adopted, but ended up back at the animal shelter due to resource guarding issues. We are looking for a responsible and experienced new caregiver for Pompon - someone who will understand that peace is a process, not a command. In the right conditions, this sensitive, good dog has a chance to find himself in a new reality and finally breathe. You can meet Pompon and the rest of the group 6 animals also at:

Pompon to pies, któremu w życiu najbardziej brakuje… spokoju. About Pompon

What life with Pompon looks like

Pompon is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pompon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pompon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pompon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pompon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pompon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pompon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pompon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
