Ringo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Ringo – Struwwelpeter searches for a suitable groomer to smooth out his mane. Our Ringo was picked up by the police alone wandering around in Xativa, at that time it seemed like he had an owner since he had a recent haircut and a parasite collar. Although his owner contacted the police, she informed them that she no longer wanted to have him due to the requirements to chip and vaccinate him… So our Struwwelpeter Ringo came to our local partners and is now eagerly waiting for his people! At the animal shelter, Ringo shows his best side: He is extremely friendly towards humans and enjoys the presence of the local volunteers so much, here a belly rub, there a diaper rub, and in between our giant baby already snuggles onto someone’s lap and enjoys a full-body massage. When it comes to female fellow animals, he is the gentleman in person and knows exactly how to charm the ladies. As part of his standard approach, he includes little victory dances and jumps into the air when he wins a female dog for himself. With male fellow animals, it currently depends on their liking, but nothing that can’t be overcome with a lot of love, time, and some training. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a problem if Ringo shares his future home with a female dog that shows him the way, but also cuddles and goes on adventures with him. However, Ringo would also be thrilled to become a single prince and receive the full attention of his family. Outside of the enclosures, he proves to be a good navigator, always standing by our staff on car rides and guiding them. So it happens that instead of going to the vet, they end up at an animal supply store.

About Ringo

What life with Ringo looks like

Ringo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ringo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ringo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ringo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ringo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ringo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ringo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ringo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
