Adopt Romeo-11

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Hometown: Mexico Romeo is a 6-year-old, approximately knee-high, weighing around 19 kg, friendly mixed-breed male dog who is looking for a loving forever home. He has a wonderful personality and knows how to bring smiles to everyone with his gentle nature and playfulness. His favorite activity is burying tennis balls and then digging them up again. However, he also needs his quiet phases for sleeping and resting. Romeo is very clever and curious, which allows him to learn quickly. He enjoys spending time with people, whether playing, relaxing together with cuddles, or going for walks. He walks well on a leash and at the animal shelter, he got along well with many other dogs, regardless of their age and size. His loving character makes him a perfect companion for singles and families. Romeo was surrendered together with another female dog, which unfortunately is common in Mexico. He was rescued in October 2023 and lived for a while in the state animal shelter in Playa del Carmen under very difficult conditions. The dogs are individually confined in cages for 23 hours and 45 minutes. Currently, he is housed in a dog kennel. If you are looking for a loving, intelligent, and cheerful friend, Romeo is ready to win your heart and become part of your family. Contact can be made directly with: Manon Bissat Phone: Please do not fill out the questionnaire!. This animal was abandoned.

About Romeo-11

What life with Romeo-11 looks like

Romeo-11 is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romeo-11, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romeo-11?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romeo-11 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romeo-11 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romeo-11 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romeo-11 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romeo-11 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
