Samra

Female · 12 months

Meet Samra, a young Malinois mix. Samra is still young and has a lot to learn. We are looking for a dedicated owner who can give her the time, attention, and guidance she needs to develop further. Samra is an active and energetic young dog. As you would expect from a Malinois, she needs both physical and mental challenges. She is looking for someone who enjoys working with her and can continue to educate her in a clear and positive way. Samra cannot stay alone at home yet. She is used to a bench as her own place and can find her rest there. She also knows a few basic commands, including sit, stay, and stay. Of course, there is still plenty of room to learn together given her young age. Samra walks on a leash outside, but this requires further training and guidance. She loves water and enjoys going on walks. She is also familiar with driving; she is transported in a car bench. Samra has experience with other dogs. She is also used to children, where she can be very enthusiastic according to her previous owner. Cats, on the other hand, are new to her. That's why we choose to place her where there are no children or cats. We are looking for someone who understands that a young Malinois not only needs exercise, but also rest, structure, training, and enough mental stimulation. Someone who not only offers her a home, but also enjoys working with her and building a strong bond. Samra has a whole life ahead of her. We hope she can spend it with someone who gives her the right guidance and can enjoy her enthusiasm and energy. ❤️ Do you think you can offer Samra the home that suits her? Then we would love to get to know you. - Are you going on vacation soon? - Address and contact details:

About Samra

What life with Samra looks like

Samra is a large adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Utrecht in Utrecht.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Samra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Samra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Utrecht handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Samra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Samra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Utrecht will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Samra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Samra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Utrecht early rather than rehoming privately; they know Samra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
