Adopt Sasha

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 20 years

To lie in the grass in the sun, play, simply run around, have a favorite toy, and a clean dog bed … but most of all to belong to a favorite person who is there for her and to which the sweet Sasha can snuggle… This would be the greatest happiness for this beautiful little dog with her very pretty short, sand-colored fur and her beautiful name Sasha. She is infinitely loving and she looks infinitely sad and longingly. Sasha has lived in a large animal shelter since she was two months old. She sees only fellow animals who are in the same sad situation as she is, and on nice weather days, the sunbeams that barely shine through the bars of her enclosure. She has gotten used to the noise from the constant barking of many dogs. What else can she do? She has plenty of time for sleeping, waiting, and being sad. These living conditions must change very soon for Sasha, because they are too depressing for her. We are urgently looking for her favorite person (there can be more than one)! This lovely doggie knows very little. She is not asked to learn or play, she is not encouraged. Sasha is a loving, friendly, adaptable female dog. It is not surprising that she is still a bit shy and reserved. She still has respect for the leash because she does not know it. If she is slowly introduced and allowed to learn with the support of her new person how to carry a harness and go on a leash, so that beautiful walks in nature are possible, she will love it. She will enjoy accompanying her/his people. This requires loving patience, time to build trust, no pressure, and lots of cuddles… then it will be a wonderful experience for both dog and person. It will be the beginning of growing together and becoming a real dog-person team. Sasha is certainly more than ready for this. We are looking for a primary caregiver, trusted people, or a family with larger, calm, understanding children who can give Sasha a loving and relaxed home. People who have a lot of fun with outdoor activities and who take joy in taking in a four-legged family member that still has much to learn and above all wants to belong. A more rural environment and a small, fenced-in garden would make Sasha more than happy, where she can experience her first sniffing rounds without a leash. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Sasha

What life with Sasha looks like

Sasha is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
