adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Sintra was able to travel to her foster family in Germany in mid-November. At first, she seemed to be settling in well, but over time it became clear how overwhelmed she was by the new everyday life. Environmental stimuli, uncertainty, and inner stress increased, leading to a change in her behavior. From an initially open female dog, she became one that increasingly withdraws and reacts with being overwhelmed in some situations. Currently, Sintra is in professional training care, where she is carefully observed and given gentle support. A comprehensive health check is also currently a focus, as Sintra suffers from spondylosis in the spine, which causes her pain, even at a young age. She is being medically cared for and receives, above all, what she desperately needs now: rest, understanding, and time. Despite her current situation, her true nature occasionally shows through. Sintra is a friendly, people-oriented female dog who enjoys cuddles and seeks the proximity of humans. In quiet moments, her gentle character becomes visible, even though this is currently overshadowed by stress and uncertainty. For Sintra, we are searching for a very experienced foster home or a home that meets her with great patience and empathy and can read her body language. A quiet, low-stress environment is essential for her. Children should not live in the household, and ideally, she will be housed as a single dog. With other animals, she is compatible depending on their affinity. Due to her health condition, stairs should be avoided as much as possible, as well as frequent lifting. She enjoys quiet walks in a relaxed environment. Sintra originally came from Romania, where she was rescued from the street along with her sisters Amica and Stelna and her mother Bettina. She is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and has an EU pet passport. A meet-and-greet is possible upon arrangement. Sintra needs people who can see and understand what lies behind her behavior. People who can help her step by step to regain trust and security. We thank heartily the namesake Drea Ni., who gave Sintra her beautiful name and thus her own identity. As of: 20.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 20.04.2026

About Sintra

What life with Sintra looks like

Sintra is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sintra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sintra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sintra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sintra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sintra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sintra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sintra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
