adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Sometimes a single glance is enough to understand that a dog has not yet experienced true security. That is the case with Suna. The young male dog was rescued together with his mother from the public shelter in Zalău. During his first months of life, he spent his time in conditions that had little to do with a protected start in life—loud, chaotic, and without a stable primary caregiver. At the moment, Suna shows a cautious and reserved demeanor. He does not approach people on his own, but he observes them with interest from a distance. One can see that he is interested in his environment, but at the same time, he is not yet sure how to behave. His mother is very fearful, and a part of this insecurity seems to have also been passed on to him. Suna gets along well with other dogs. His compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. For Suna, we are looking for a home with patience, experience, and a calm environment. People who allow him to come at his own pace, without expecting anything, and who are willing to work with him on his development. It would be especially important that he does not stay in the shelter for too long. The longer young dogs grow up in this environment, the greater the risk that they will permanently retreat into their insecurity. As Suna is currently about 1 year old, he is in the middle of puberty. During this phase, dogs can react particularly sensitively to changes, forget what they have learned, or question boundaries. For an already insecure dog like Suna, it is important to have loving consequences, clear structures, and a reliable framework so that he can orient himself and develop trust. Of course, Suna has not yet experienced life in a house. House training, leash manners, the relaxed alone time, or walking on the street are all unfamiliar to him. His new family should be ready to teach him all of this piece by piece with calmness and positive reinforcement. A visit to a positively working dog training class, ideally with experience in dealing with insecure young dogs, would be a great support. Suna travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive assessment. Who will give Suna the chance to slowly unfold, with understanding, patience, and a secure place in life? Many thanks to Smilla, who gave Suna the chance at a new beginning! Date: 12.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 12.02.2026

About Suna

What life with Suna looks like

Suna is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Suna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Suna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Suna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Suna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Suna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Suna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Suna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
