Tabitha

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

The story of Tabitha is touching. One day, she was found by rescuer Timea in the middle of the road, crying from pain. Probably, Tabitha had been hit by a car. She tried to move, but she could no longer do so. Despite her severe pain, she allowed Timea to carefully pick her up and take her away without biting or resisting. At the veterinarian, it turned out that Tabitha had multiple fractures. She was operated on twice. Then followed a long recovery period during which Tabitha could not stand on her own for about three months. Throughout this entire time, she was lovingly cared for at home by Timea, which played an important role in her recovery. Now we are further along in time, and things are going well with Tabitha, despite everything. Although she will always be lame, she shows that this does not limit her zest for life. She has moved to the kennel, where she handles herself excellently among the other dogs. In addition, Tabitha is social and confident. She does not let herself be pushed aside easily and stands her ground. Tabitha has a short tail and a special appearance. Notably, her beautiful brindle coat makes her look a bit like a greyhound. She loves Timea, but also likes other people and is open to contact. Because Tabitha lived in a house for a while, she has already learned a lot about being a house dog. Therefore, she will probably fit many families. Of course, she will have to get used to a new environment, but with good guidance and some patience, this will definitely work out. Tabitha is a strong, lovely dog ready for a new chapter in her life. Who will give this special lady her well-deserved golden bed? About Tabitha

What life with Tabitha looks like

Tabitha is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Help een Hond in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tabitha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tabitha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Help een Hond handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tabitha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tabitha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Help een Hond will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tabitha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tabitha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Help een Hond early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tabitha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
