Talia

Female · Adult · 5 years

Talia is a young, full of vigor female dog, who is four years old and has great reserves of energy and emotion. She loves movement, needs activity, challenges, and - above all - a person who will support her. This is not a dog that finds comfort in stillness or confinement. She is full of energy and ideas. Her future caregiver should like movement, but also be stable to be a support for sensitive Tali. We know that regularity, rituals and a calm space make a huge difference - then Talia shows how much she values the bond with a human. Suddenly she becomes focused, attentive, seeks eye contact, cooperates willingly and enjoys every success. What does working with Tali look like today? Talia is still learning new things! She handles wearing a muzzle, we are teaching her to shake hands, she knows the command "sit". This is a smart, perceptive female dog who only needs attention and time. She can ride in a car (as a passenger 😊). At the veterinarian she is very well behaved - she allows calmly putting on a muzzle without treats, waits patiently, and causes no problems. This shows that in the right environment she can remain calm and trust even in stressful situations. The animal shelter negatively affects Tali's mental state - noise, crowding and the presence of other dogs make it difficult for her to relax. Only other, calm conditions allow her to really open up. Away from the animal shelter she calms down beautifully and shows her nature. We are working on a nice walk on a leash. Talia is strong, and the animal shelter environment excites her. But with regular, long walks, there are big improvements! Increasingly often she can walk calmly, focused on the walk, sniffing and exploring. Over two years behind bars... Talia came to the animal shelter as a puppy - she was just over a year old. Today she is already four years old, which means she has spent almost three years in the animal shelter! This is definitely too long for such a young and emotionally sensitive dog. Who are we looking for for Tali? An experienced caregiver who knows how to work with an emotional, active dog. A person who will understand her needs and provide stability. A quiet area - preferably outside the city. No small children (>13 years old) and other animals - at this moment Talia must be an only child. She has a strong hunting instinct, and her relationship with dogs still requires work. We are convinced that with the right caregiver, Talia will show how smart and wonderful a female dog she is. Do you have experience, heart and time? Talia can become your faithful companion. Take the first step and schedule a walk with her!

Masz doświadczenie, serce i czas?

About Talia

What life with Talia looks like

Talia is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: High energy dog with strong hunting instincts, requires calm environment away from shelter noise, needs to be only pet

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Talia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Talia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Talia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Talia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Talia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Talia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Talia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
