Tao (Desdentao)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Tao – young mixed breed dog is looking for a home with patience and heart Tao is a young mixed breed dog who ended up in our Spanish partner animal shelter in November in poor condition. Thanks to good care and some time, he has now stabilized and is currently a friendly, open-minded dog who enjoys the company of his caregivers. Tao lived with the female dog Nala in the shelter, with whom he got along very well. She has already found a home, but Tao remained. That's why we wish him even more that he too will soon get the chance to leave the shelter behind. He likes to go for walks and shows active interest in his surroundings. On a leash, he still needs some training, but he remains calm when encountering environmental stimuli such as cars or strangers. Overall, he appears curious and open without being pushy, and gets along well with other dogs in the shelter. We know nothing about Tao's past. Therefore, interested people should be aware that he still has a lot to learn: daily life in a household, fixed routines, leash training, and possibly being alone. Moving out of the shelter is a big change for any dog, requiring time, patience and empathy. For Tao, we wish for a home that gives him this time and is ready to take on responsibility. People who do not see him as a finished dog, but rather want to accompany and support a young dog step by step. Tao has good prerequisites - all that is missing is the right environment where he can finally arrive. If you are aware of what comes with adopting a rescue dog, and you have fallen for the puppy, please contact the responsible adoption officer from SALVA Dog Rescue. We would also be very grateful, especially Tao, if you could provide a foster home! Here is Tao's video Here is Tao's second video

About Tao (Desdentao)

What life with Tao (Desdentao) looks like

Tao (Desdentao) is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tao (Desdentao), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tao (Desdentao)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tao (Desdentao) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tao (Desdentao) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tao (Desdentao) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tao (Desdentao) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tao (Desdentao) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
