Tarzan

Mixed Breed · Male

Hi. My name is Tarzan. I'm not the king of the jungle, but I have strength, a heart and a longing for someone who will finally understand me. I was born in August 2022 - a long-haired German shepherd from real life. Smart, loyal, full of energy and emotions. Unfortunately, my previous caregiver completely didn't understand what it means to have a dog like me. He wanted a big, nice dog - but he didn't realize that this also comes with responsibility, the need for understanding, work, time and heart. Over time, I became a problem for him. The obligations that came with starting a family made me not fit into his world anymore. It started with misunderstanding and ended with behaviors that broke my trust. He lost his patience, and I - my sense of security. I felt like an object that is put aside when it no longer fits the decor. On March 16, 2025 I arrived at the animal shelter. Paradoxically - here I received more warmth and support than for a long time in my "home". Here they didn't dismiss me. Here they listen to me. They give me care, a work plan and hope. They help me believe again that I can be a wonderful companion - faithful, devoted and happy. I have current vaccinations, I am dewormed. Soon I will have neutering - and after that, I have this quiet hope ... that somewhere someone is reading these words and feels that it's about him. That he or she may be my real person. Someone who is there for good and for bad. Someone who won't run away when it gets hard. Someone who knows that a dog is not just an obligation, but also a friend - with a soul, emotions and needs. There is something else you should know about me - unfortunately, I get excited by the sight of other dogs. It's something we are working on here, because I know that calm and control can also be developed, if only someone gives me time, support and proper guidance. If you are that person - stop. Look into my eyes. Maybe it's us who will write a common story?

Mądry, lojalny, pełen energii i emocji. On stracił cierpliwość, a ja – poczucie bezpieczeństwa. 16 marca 2025 roku trafiłem do schroniska. Paradoksalnie – tu dostałem więcej ciepła i wsparcia niż przez długi czas w moim "domu". Tu mnie nie przekreślili. Tu mnie słuchają. Dają mi opiekę, plan pracy i nadzieję. Mam aktualne szczepienia, jestem odrobaczony. Może to właśnie my mamy napisać wspólną historię? Z merdającym ogonem, Twój Tarzan

About Tarzan

What life with Tarzan looks like

Tarzan is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tarzan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tarzan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tarzan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tarzan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tarzan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tarzan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tarzan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
