Teddie

Cocker Spaniel · Male · Senior · 11 years

Teddie enjoys his day trips and is always happy to be included. He absolutely loves travelling and going on little adventures, making him a great companion for those who enjoy getting out and about. He is also very content to relax at home and has a rather impressive talent for sleeping anywhere and everywhere! And if there is one thing that really makes Teddie’s tail wag, it's grub! He loves his meals and is unlikely to ever forget when it is dinner time. This lovely, affectionate boy deserves to spend his golden years surrounded by love, comfort and plenty of fuss. Could you be the family to give him a happy retirement in his forever home? At 11½ years old, Teddie is a lovely older gentleman looking for a new home through no fault of his own. He is a wonderfully easy-going boy who loves the simple things in life — a fuss from his favourite people, a good meal, a cozy spot to sleep and, of course, a day out! He is used to being left home alone for a few hours and could live with pre-school-aged children, making him a lovely option for a family looking for a gentle, calm companion. Teddie is good with other dogs, although he is fairly indifferent to them and does not particularly seek out their company, so we feel he would be perfectly happy as the only dog in his new home, where he can enjoy having all the attention to himself. He has the potential to live with cats.

About Teddie

What life with Teddie looks like

Teddie is a senior cocker spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
