Teddy

Male · Young · 3 years

Teddy is looking for a new home where he can have company most of the time and a garden to play in. His new home should be committed to continuing his training. Teddy loves going for long walks and is very social. No flats, please. Teddy would prefer a home in the countryside. Teddy is very friendly with dogs and people. He is very excited to meet people and may jump up on children. Teddy can be destructive with toys and possessive of them (also bones). He needs to learn to ‘swap’. Teddy is bright and would enjoy learning new things and already knows “sit, stay, come, down, leave it, wait, bed and no”. He can be very protective of his owner and will follow them around the home. Teddy can be left for a few hours but can become very unsettled if left alone for longer periods, he wants to be with his people. On walks, Teddy will happily sniff and play around with other dogs. He wears a harness as he can pull on the lead. Teddy travels well in the car and loves going on walking adventures. Teddy’s recall is fairly good off-lead but would need to be re-enforced in a new environment. Teddy has been to the groomers and is fine to be washed and brushed, but he does not like being dried. Teddy gets scared when the washing machine spins loudly. Teddy loves playing catch, being outdoors and in the garden, going for long walks in the woods and getting lots of attention from everyone. He is a friendly, loving dog who enjoys attention, walks, playtime and being around people. © 2025 Dog Aid Scotland (SCIO Charity No. SC001918) Web Design by Techincal Services Scotland. About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a young adult dog waiting at Dog Aid Society of Scotland in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dog Aid Society of Scotland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dog Aid Society of Scotland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dog Aid Society of Scotland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
