Tigrou

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Titi, our little Tigrou is no longer with us. With shock, we learned this news yesterday at noon. Titi had a cardiac arrest during the exams, and the resuscitation attempt failed. The news was as brutal as the loss of our Titi; everyone was crying at the shelter. My little Titi, with shock, I learned that your heart had stopped beating while you were undergoing exams. You, who had fought so hard throughout this time. I remember your abandonment, the owner's call on a Monday explaining that he couldn't afford the scan because he had found an association that would pay for it, the second call three days later, when he explained that he no longer wanted you because he couldn't manage the surgery that would allow you to walk correctly, even if the scan was paid for. You arrived in an emergency, as often happens, on a Friday morning at the shelter. And there, with astonishment, we discovered your cadaveric state. But we met the wonderful little dog that you were. Your owner was leaving abroad in the afternoon, and his family had to join him by air… On December 17, 2021, eight days before Christmas, priorities are different for everyone… I remember the call from your owner explaining that she would sue us for libel because I had shared photos taken on the day of your arrival at the shelter, and it had made her children cry… it doesn't matter, we are used to threats, insults, negative opinions… With you, we became used to going to specialists, scans, MRI, lumbar puncture, and discovering your pathologies. A degenerative ventral myelopathy made you inoperable. A slow evolving chondromatous mass was compressing your heart, we knew it wouldn't respond to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. At the beginning of the year, we had planned targeted therapy to help you. Yesterday, for the first time, we discussed a wheelchair to help you walk. Up until now, the neurologist explained that walking would strengthen you. You were such a brave little angel, so joyful, who lit up our lives during these three years shared with us at the shelter. Until the end, you made us happy… At home, you regained weight, you had balanced meals. And then one day, we introduced you to a companion. Fara had lost her Tuck and was not getting over it, she arrived in your life. So many photos of this inseparable couple, like us, you adored your Fara. A month ago, she passed away, you were alone and sad since then, and we were looking for a sweet and gentle companion for you. At Christmas, we noticed your red eye… I immediately scheduled an ophthalmology appointment, an ulcer on one side, then glaucoma were revealed. Coming out of the CHU, you had a fainting spell, you were immediately taken to the emergency room. Nothing was found, your blood test was good, your echocardiogram showed a slight pericardial effusion that couldn't be drained. You thus returned home, to the shelter. A double appointment with an internist and a neurologist was scheduled. On Friday, you returned to ophthalmology, the ulcer was healed, but both eyes were now under treatment for that blasted glaucoma. You were such a fighter, my Titi, that we thought you were still winning. You were always a gentle patient, yesterday for the first time, I found you sad in the waiting room, you didn't want to see the other dogs. Your Fara missed you, and a month later, you went to be with her. We had tried to distract you, in vain. Your heart stopped, and today we mourn you. It's so surreal to think that you are no longer here, that your joy will no longer light up our days. You made us laugh and smile, sometimes grumble when you wanted to lick Fara and she was tired of it, but your adorable face made us quickly laugh. Today, you are together, and we are devastated to have loved you so much. Farewell, my Titi, take care of Fara. Know that you are forever in our hearts, how could we not love you, abandon you?

About Tigrou

What life with Tigrou looks like

Tigrou is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animaux sans Foyer in Montgeron.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tigrou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tigrou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animaux sans Foyer handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tigrou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tigrou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animaux sans Foyer will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tigrou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tigrou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animaux sans Foyer early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tigrou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
