Koko s’en est allé…

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

It is with immense sadness that I write these words, not even fully realizing that you will never be here again... My Koko, I still remember the day you arrived at the shelter, of the woman who brought you with amazing explanations. Indeed, you were not an easy dog, but you had to be understood and accepted for your strong character. Over time, you trusted us, but it was not always easy to care for you. When the veterinarian entered the refuge, you immediately recognized his voice and started barking and growling... But with us, you were the gentlest of dogs. How can I forget your head resting on my neck, in the evening before bed and your shampoo scent... My lipstick marks on your forehead always indicated that I had come to see you. Of course there were safety rules, not everyone could approach you at once. People should really learn to handle a dog before acquiring one... We welcomed you, understood you, accepted you and deeply and sincerely loved you. We were your family and we were until the end. In November, you started to feel very ill and an echo revealed a CMD, the treatment boosted you. Keeping up with your pace was not always easy, but we managed. The infrared sessions relieved your arthritis. And everything returned to normal thanks to your magical pillbox. You shredded your memory foam mattress to prove you were getting better, then a second mattress... In January, to our greatest happiness, you celebrated your 14th birthday. But suddenly last Sunday you had a stroke. You were immediately taken to the emergency room, and we all believed a new miracle would happen. We were able to bring you back to the refuge. You ate well, you got tired of chicken, it didn't matter, you loved your steaks to our greatest joy. For a week we fought with you, so you could walk again. What joy to see you wagging your tail when I arrived on Wednesday morning. You had to be lifted, helped and we did it gladly for you, my Koko. What joy to feel your heartbeat, to see how happy you were to eat treats, the infrared sessions helped you. On Friday you didn't want much, a slice of ham and a box of id. On Saturday morning you refused everything, medication, food and treats. You were taken to the veterinarian and a battery of tests, all more negative than the previous ones, arrived. It was so hard to hear those results. You left us with our tears and kisses, my Aiko. Life at the refuge without you will never be the same, my Aiko, my Koko, Coconuts... We love you and will never forget you.

What life with Koko s’en est allé… looks like

Koko s’en est allé… is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animaux sans Foyer in Montgeron.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koko s’en est allé…, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koko s’en est allé…?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animaux sans Foyer handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koko s’en est allé… on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koko s’en est allé… if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animaux sans Foyer will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koko s’en est allé… already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koko s’en est allé… isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animaux sans Foyer early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koko s’en est allé… and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
