adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Winky found its own home quickly! His story: Winky sought a saving anchor after several misfortunes. The little delicate Winky had a home with animal-friendly people who rescued him from the street and took good care of him. But fate was not kind to him, his fellow rescued fur friends, and the people, and he lost everything again. This is particularly tragic when one considers how rare it is to meet people in Romania who take in stray dogs and care for them affectionately. The Animal Police asked our Romanian helpers for help, and Winky was among the rescued fur babies who were secured. Now he lives in one of the enclosures in Paul’s Shelter, where he is lovingly cared for despite the limited time. Even though Winky had some good fortune in misfortune, such a change always means a huge loss of control. Familiar daily routines and familiar things in his surroundings could have given him security and helped him find his place in life. Now, everything has changed abruptly, and it unsettles the delicate dog soul. That's why we aim to find sensitive people for the golden Winky who will stay by his side, give him security, and care for him affectionately. Winky is a charming approximately 5-year-old puppy and has thus already passed puberty. With his white fur, a white and a black ear, a black "upper lip whisker," and a black-rimmed eye, Winky looks simply incredibly cute. With his approximately 30 cm shoulder height and a body weight of around 7 kg, he belongs to the smaller representatives of his fellow animals. When he looks at us with his black button eyes a bit shyly, we can already see that he likes people. He is also compatible with his fellow animals. Fates are connected. We are looking for a quiet and empathetic home for Winky, where he has enough retreat possibilities to settle in at his own pace. Winky has already learned life in a house, but we don't know if he knows the ABCs of being a fur baby and if everything will work out right away. Leash walking, house training, basic commands, and car rides are all things that probably got left behind. Therefore, it is important to consistently and lovingly convey family rules and to forgive the occasional mishap. To strengthen the bond with his new people, a visit to a positively working dog training class after the settling period will contribute to giving him the necessary security and strengthening his self-confidence. A foster home as a stepping stone into his new life is of course also warmly invited to contact us. Winky travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He will be available after a positive adoption. We thank Pavel B.! You have given Winky an identity and the chance to find a new family. Thank you, Monika K.! Vielen Dank Monika K.! Du unterstützt Winky mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! About Winky

What life with Winky looks like

Winky is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Winky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Winky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Winky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Winky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Winky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Winky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Winky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
