Zimti

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

In the shelter since: September 2026 Estimated age: born approx. April 2026 Estimated adult shoulder height: approx. 59 – 79 cm Estimated adult weight: approx. 35 kg and more Meet Zimti right here in the video! Affectionate puppy Zimti is looking for a loving family Zimti was rescued from the streets of Romania during a neutering campaign and taken in by the shelter. He was very easygoing during the rescue. You can find more information about how the dogs come to the shelter and answers to general questions in our animal welfare FAQ. Zimti is a playful, open and people-oriented young dog, typical of a puppy. He greets people in a friendly way, enjoys being petted and is also open toward children. He likes to make contact with other dogs and invites them to play. In doing so, he still needs to learn to better respect the boundaries and signals of other dogs. Overall, he is social and communicative. His character will continue to develop over the coming weeks and months – at this point only the beginnings are visible. If you would like more information about this furry friend, feel free to write to our placement team. Zimti's right hind leg (tibia and fibula) was broken, but the fracture has already healed through callus formation, so surgery is no longer possible. Our placement team knows best about his exact health condition. If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a message. We suspect that Zimti has a livestock guardian dog (HSH) in his ancestry. Please inform yourself here about the requirements for adopting a livestock guardian dog. HSH mixes are often very independent and need confident, consistent leadership. Puppies should not have to grow up in a shelter. That is why we urgently seek a loving home or an experienced foster home for this little furry friend – a place where he can discover the world, build trust and simply be a dog child. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding everyday life with a young dog can be: once house-training is achieved, the "wild adolescence" often begins – full of energy, uncertainties and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that humans and dogs take together, with highs, lows and plenty of learning moments. We wish for this furry friend people with patience, empathy and perseverance – and with an understanding that shelter dogs often already bring some history with them. How exactly they will respond to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is certain: those who adopt rather than buy not only give an animal a second chance, but actively choose against animal suffering – and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write to our placement team.

About Zimti

What life with Zimti looks like

Zimti is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zimti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zimti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zimti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zimti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zimti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zimti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zimti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
