Hello everyone, I'm Pablo! A Stafford of almost 10 years old, and the caretakers here also affectionately call me 'the big round giant'. With my 40 kilos, I might still lose some weight in the future, but that doesn't take away from my enormous charm! When it comes to people, I'm a true all-around friend. I thoroughly enjoy attention and a nice scratch on my belly. As for other dogs, I react differently. According to my previous owner, I was always social with my kind, but here at the animal shelter, the caretakers find it difficult to judge that at the moment. At home, I'm a quiet and loving dog. I can stay alone at home for a few hours and then I'm very relaxed. However, I must honestly say that the stay in the animal shelter is becoming harder for me. I'd rather just be among people. Walking is no longer my favorite activity; I'd rather roam around the courtyard or lie cozily by the staff at their desks. Your future masters must be okay with the fact that I'm not a dog for long hikes anymore. A quiet, shorter walk is more than enough for me. When I arrived, I had a lot of itching and my eyes and paws were swollen. Fortunately, the caretakers put me on hypoallergenic food, which has completely eliminated my itching and made my skin look beautiful and calm. Only my paws are still a little swollen, so they still need some attention. It's important that I continue to eat this hypoallergenic food for the rest of my life. Currently, they are still washing my paws with a special shampoo, and they are looking into whether this will be necessary in the long term. Due to my age and size, X-rays were also taken of me. From this, it became clear that I have some mild signs of aging in my back and shoulders. This is fortunately minimal and fits well with my age and current weight. To ensure that I feel comfortable, I'm currently given a pain-relieving tablet every day. All in all, I'm an amazing, quiet senior looking for a warm home for my golden years. A soft bed, some attention, a quiet walk, and lots of coziness; that's really all I need as a big softie. Hallo allemaal, ik ben Pablo! Een Stafford van bijna 10 jaar oud en de verzorgers hier noemen mij ook wel liefkozend ‘de grote ronde reus’. Met mijn 40 kilo mag er in de toekomst nog wel wat gewicht af, maar dat doet natuurlijk niets af aan mijn enorme charme! Als het om mensen gaat, ben ik een echte allemansvriend. Ik geniet volop van aandacht en een fijne kriebel op mijn bol. Naar andere honden reageer ik wisselend. Volgens mijn vorige eigenaar was ik altijd sociaal met soortgenoten, maar hier in het asiel vinden de verzorgers dat op dit moment lastig te beoordelen. In huis ben ik een rustige en lieve hond. Ik kan prima een aantal uurtjes alleen thuis blijven en stel me dan heel ontspannen op. Wel moet ik eerlijk zeggen dat het verblijf in het asiel me steeds zwaarder begint te vallen. Ik ben het liefst gewoon onder de mensen. Wandelen is alleen niet meer mijn favoriete bezigheid; het liefst scharrel ik wat rond op de binnenplaats of lig ik gezellig bij de medewerkers op kantoor. Mijn toekomstige baasjes moeten er dan ook oké mee zijn dat ik geen hond meer ben voor urenlange boswandelingen. Een rustig, korter rondje is voor mij méér dan genoeg. Toen ik binnenkwam, had ik veel last van jeuk en waren mijn ogen en pootjes opgezet. Gelukkig hebben de verzorgers me op hypoallergene voeding gezet, waardoor mijn jeuk helemaal is verdwenen en mijn huid weer mooi rustig is. Alleen mijn pootjes zijn nog licht gezwollen, dus dat blijft wel wat aandacht nodig hebben. Het is belangrijk dat ik deze hypoallergene brokken de rest van mijn leven blijf eten. Momenteel wassen ze mijn pootjes nog met een speciale shampoo, en er wordt nog gekeken of dit op de lange termijn nodig blijft. Vanwege mijn leeftijd en formaat zijn er ook röntgenfoto’s van mij gemaakt. Hieruit bleek dat ik wat lichte ouderdomsverschijnselen heb in mijn rug en schouders. Dit is gelukkig minimaal en past goed bij mijn leeftijd en huidige gewicht. Om te zorgen dat ik me lekker comfortabel voel, krijg ik momenteel elke dag een pijnstillingstabletje. Al met al ben ik een ontzettend lieve, rustige senior die op zoek is naar een warm thuis voor mijn gouden jaren. Een zachte mand, wat aandacht, een rustig wandelingetje en vooral veel gezelligheid; meer heb ik als grote goedzak eigenlijk niet nodig.
