Adopt Aida

Mixed Breed · Female

When Aida crossed the threshold of the shelter, she was a shadow of a dog, paralyzed by fear. Every attempt to put on a collar or leash ended in a defensive act, because she was so scared that someone would do something bad to her again. Today, everything can be done with her - she can be picked up and have her nails trimmed. At the vet, she stands politely and does not try to bite. Aida is not the easiest dog, every day she makes a decision to try once more to trust. Aida gets along with dogs of both sexes and various ages. She increasingly approaches them to play! She greets the new dog with curiosity, but does not seek contact with strange dogs in the yard. When one comes too quickly, she just walks away - she does not provoke conflicts, she chooses peace. She practically ignores cats. Very small children might overwhelm her, but older people who know dog boundaries will be fine. Aida is calm. She is showing more joy these days. On walks she sniffs, sometimes she trots. In a quiet neighborhood, she goes boldly, but on a busy street, she still becomes tense. She walks very nicely on a leash, she does not pull. When left alone, she stays in the kennel, she does not bark and does not destroy anything. This girl will not immediately run into the arms of a new person. At home, when someone comes, she leaves the cage, looks for a while, and returns to herself. On the yard, she keeps her distance, but if someone ignores her, she can walk beside. She needs her person. After the appropriate time, she comes when called and can gently ask for pats. For Aidy, we are looking for a home in a quiet neighborhood. It would be best for her to find a home with another, stable, unafraid dog. Dogs give her great support and she learns from them that humans are not always a threat. If you give her time, patience, and silence, you will see how she blooms. There is nothing more beautiful than the moment when a shy dog comes for affection for the first time. — METRICS — 🧮 Age: 04/2022 🚻 Gender: female 🐾 Size: about 7 kilograms 🏀 Activity: moderate ❤️ spayed: yes ℹ️ microchip: yes 💉 Vaccinations: yes 📍 Location: temporary home in Warsaw CONTACT IN THE ADOPTION 730-116-503 The phone is answered from Monday to Friday between 10-19, on weekends between 12-16. W domu, gdy ktoś przychodzi, wyjdzie z klatki, chwilę popatrzy i wraca do siebie. About Aida

What life with Aida looks like

Aida is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aida, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aida?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aida on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aida if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aida already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aida isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aida and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
