Aoki &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Aoki is a sweet, affectionate, and energetic dog who brings lots of joy with his playful nature to every home. He is a friend to play, movement, and adventure, but also has a sensitive and sensitive side. Aoki gets along well with fellow animals and currently lives with his family, where he also lives with a cat. Since his puppyhood, Aoki has completed obedience training with positive reinforcement, which helps him behave well in various situations. However, Aoki is not a dog who likes to be alone—he loves spending time with his family and needs people who can give him lots of attention and affection. Ideal are dog-experienced and active people who can integrate him into their daily lives and where he is part of the family and the happenings. An ideal home would also be in a natural setting. The hustle and bustle of the city can easily overstimulate him, so he would particularly thrive in a quiet environment with lots of greenery. A private garden where he can run and sniff around would be a paradise for him. Since he has a strong prey drive, he should be led on a leash in non-enclosed areas to ensure he does not run off uncontrolled. Aoki does not know small children, so a home with older children or without children would be ideal for him. A second dog would certainly be a great addition for Aoki, as he greatly enjoys the company of fellow animals. Aoki is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be rehomed for an adoption fee of CHF 650. We thank you for your understanding if the processing of your request takes a little longer. If you are interested in our dogs and would like to meet them informally, apply with the button below, and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible. We strive to give a response as soon as possible. However, it may happen that many inquiries come in at once or that our resources are temporarily urgently needed elsewhere.

DE·Show original

About Aoki &#8211

What life with Aoki &#8211 looks like

Aoki &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aoki &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aoki &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aoki &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aoki &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aoki &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aoki &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aoki &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
