Apollo-2

Dogo Argentino · Male · Adult · 5 years

Country of Origin: Switzerland Breeding Country: Germany In the animal shelter since: October 2023 In the new home, there must be no children or other pets. Patience, time, and understanding are needed for the young dog. The new owners should be interested in dog training classes based on positive reinforcement. Understanding and willingness to work with a muzzle are required. For Apollo, we are looking for a home with a terrace or garden, ground-level without many stairs. Special note: We would be happy if you could clarify this beforehand. History of the Dog (why in the animal shelter) Apollo, as a young dog, has escaped a few times and occupied himself. Unfortunately, there were also incidents with children. That’s why he ended up with us. Character and Behavior Apollo is a very funny companion who always brings a smile. He loves to examine and dismantle stuffed animals, sometimes even his beds. He loves eating more than anything, he can never get enough of treats, chews, or his daily food. He doesn’t always love going for walks. Sometimes he loves it, and on another day, he would rather snuggle in his warm blankets. He has it figured out, “Training” is overrated in his view. However, it’s important to teach him the basics of dog behavior so he can get along in everyday life. Unfortunately, Apollo has health issues; his movement apparatus doesn’t always work as he would like. Sometimes his legs are faster than his head, and he also needs to learn to lift his paws better to move and not shuffle. Additionally, he suffers from food allergies. Apollo can be very clumsy, if he’s in your way, he might knock you out of the way with a swing. That’s why he shouldn’t live with children or frail people. He also doesn’t get along well with cats. Other dogs find him interesting on walks and he likes to observe them from a safe distance. Would you like to meet Apollo and give him a home? Please call us to arrange a meeting. Do not send a questionnaire to animal-happyend. If interested, you can contact the animal shelter Paradiesli – many thanks!

Bitte keinen Fragebogen an animal-happyend senden. Bei Interesse dürfen Sie sich gerne ans Tierheim Paradiesli wenden - Vielen Dank!

About Apollo-2

What life with Apollo-2 looks like

Apollo-2 is a adult dogo argentino dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
