Belle

Beagle · Unknown

Meet Belle – A Special Girl Looking for Her Forever Home Belle is a lovely, intelligent girl who enjoys her home comforts, her walks and, of course, anything involving food! She is a girl who likes to have a routine and knows exactly what to expect from her day. She enjoys getting out and about, exploring new places and putting her nose to good use hunting for tasty treats. Belle is affectionate and enjoys cuddles, fuss and attention, although she also likes her own space and appreciates having the choice of when she’d like some attention. She can be a little particular about things and prefers not to be disturbed when she’s sleeping. Belle’s separation anxiety is a significant issue. Her owner describes leaving her to go to bed or even to pop out shopping as very difficult. When left, she may repeatedly throw herself against doors and windows and can become destructive. When her owner is at home, she is generally not destructive. she has learnt to settle alone here at the rehoming centre but going into a new home may set her back but this can be managed and reduced with the correct management and training over time. She sleeps in the lounge at night but she might benefit from sleeping in her owners bedroom to reduce her anxiety at night being alone which will help being left in the day. Belle is described as very intelligent and aware of what is happening around her. She recognises familiar routines, sounds and cues, and can anticipate what is about to happen. What Belle is looking for She is house trained and travels well in the car. She has good recall and can enjoy off-lead exercise in suitable, secure environments. Belle generally enjoys meeting other dogs and has had positive interactions, although introductions should always be managed appropriately. Her ideal home Belle would love a home with: Someone around for most of the day. A patient owner who understands separation anxiety. A predictable routine and a comfortable place to relax. Regular walks and opportunities to explore. Plenty of affection, tasty treats and time to settle at her own pace. Belle is a clever girl who knows her routines and enjoys being involved in everyday life. She has lots of lovely qualities and, with the right understanding and companionship, has so much to offer. Could you be the person who gives Belle the understanding, security and forever home she deserves Belle recently has a mast cell tumour removed on her leg but is recovering well and the vets are happy with her.

About Belle

What life with Belle looks like

Belle is an adult beagle dog waiting at The Beagle Welfare Scheme in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Belle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Belle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Beagle Welfare Scheme handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Belle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Belle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Beagle Welfare Scheme will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Belle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Belle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Beagle Welfare Scheme early rather than rehoming privately; they know Belle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
