Maak kennis met Boem

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Young · 2 years

Hi, I'm Boem! Yes, Boem. Just like the sound I make when I bump into a door, a person or a strategically placed trash can with excitement. Oops. I now live at DOA! My previous owner wasn't very kind to me, so I got a new start. Let me tell you: I'm really good at new starts. Especially when they start with running, jumping or sniffing! I'm basically a bouncy ball on legs. If something happens, I want to join in. If nothing happens, I still want to join in. I think calmness is seriously overrated. But anyway, the people here have let me discover sniffing games. And I have to admit, it's actually pretty nice. My head gets calmer. Although of course I won't admit that too much, because imagine if they expect me to do it more often. All people are great. Really all people. If you're a human, you're automatically great. Cuddling? Fantastic! But only when there are no toys around, because otherwise those have to be convincingly thrown around first. Priorities, right. So are you looking for a cheerful, enthusiastic, sometimes overly enthusiastic friend? Someone who lovingly bounces you awake, loves to play with you, and secretly (but really, really secretly) also enjoys a quiet moment together? Then I'm Boem. And I can't wait to meet you!

NL·Show original

About Maak kennis met Boem

What life with Maak kennis met Boem looks like

Maak kennis met Boem is a young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maak kennis met Boem, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maak kennis met Boem?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maak kennis met Boem on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maak kennis met Boem if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maak kennis met Boem already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maak kennis met Boem isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maak kennis met Boem and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
