Adopt Veek

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 6 years

Hi, I'm Veek! I'm a 6-year-old Stafford lady and I love life! I'm cheerful, loving, and always come up to say a friendly hello when you come in. Secretly, I'm also just really curious about who you are. My life hasn't always been easy, and that's why I sometimes look a bit like a cat out of water with new people. I enjoy taking my time to get to know you. If you give me that chance, you'll see that I'm a big cuddle bug who'll do anything for you. Really, once I trust you, you're part of my pack. I get along well with kids and find it cozy to be part of a family. Cats aren't really my thing, though; I don't get excited about them. With other dogs, I'm a bit selective. I still need to learn how to play relaxed with them and can sometimes come off as stiff, but I'm not mean... I just don't get it yet. What I need is someone patient with me and who gives me time to adjust at my own pace. Someone who lets me know I'm safe and that I can just be myself. Do you think we'd be a good match? Then I can't wait to meet you!

About Veek

What life with Veek looks like

Veek is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Veek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Veek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Veek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Veek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Veek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Veek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Veek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
