Bruno

Beagle · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Bruno – Looking for His New Home Bruno, whose Kennel Club name is The Palace Jester, is a 12-year-old tri-colour male Beagle, born December 2014. He is 44cm tall and weighs 22kg. Bruno is vaccinated, with his last vaccination in June 2026, and is wormed monthly. He is microchipped. About Bruno Bruno is a very gentle-natured, affectionate older Beagle who loves company and plenty of fuss. Bruno is used to having people around , and although he can cope with being left for a short time in his crate, he definitely prefers company. Training & Behaviour Bruno is housetrained and crate trained. As a puppy he completed Bronze obedience training and later did tracker training for fun. He does pull on lead, and his owners find that he walks best using a harness. Bruno has a good-natured personality but is very much guided by his nose! His recall isn’t reliable, so although he is friendly, his owners don’t allow him off lead. He is an opportunist and will explore if given access to an unsecured area, so secure fencing is important. He is generally non-destructive, although if left in his crate for too long he may become destructive. He will also investigate open bins or bags of rubbish. Around People Bruno has never shown aggression towards people. He can become nervous at the vets or groomers and may dribble when anxious. He is sensitive about having his paws handled roughly and may give a small growl or whimper when his nails are being cut. Other Dogs Bruno has not lived permanently with another dog but has experienced home boarding with other dogs and has been fine. He can bark and pull when approaching dogs on lead and is sometimes nervous around larger or black dogs. His interactions with dogs when off lead have been fine. A compatible canine companion could therefore be possible, subject to careful introductions. Cats & Other Animals Bruno has never lived with a cat, so his behaviour around cats is unknown. He does, however, live with chickens and is able to be outside with them. Food & Poo Eating Bruno is fed Wainwrights, morning and evening. He will steal food or rubbish if it is left within reach, but he is not possessive or aggressive and items can be taken from him easily. If caught, he listens when told to leave something. His owners specifically highlight coprophagia (eating poo) as a behaviour that his new family will need to be comfortable managing. This is the main reason they feel a different home would be better for him. Travelling Bruno travels very well. He happily relaxes in the boot and has been on a ferry several times. He does not like being left alone in the car, however, even for short periods. Exercise For his age, Bruno is relatively easy-going. He generally only requires one walk a day, although he can cope with more or less depending on the day. He also sleeps quite a lot, as you would expect from an older Beagle. Bruno’s Ideal Home Bruno would suit a family who: Have time and company to give him Understand that he is an older Beagle who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle Are comfortable managing his poo-eating behaviour Can provide secure outdoor areas, as his recall isn’t reliable Will use a harness for walks Can continue to give him gentle, respectful handling Are happy to have a loving companion who enjoys plenty of fuss May have another compatible dog, provided introductions are successful Bruno is a gentle, affectionate older Beagle who loves people, company and a good fuss. He isn’t looking for an action-packed life – he would simply love a family who has time for him, enjoys having a dog around and is not concerned by his rather unfortunate habit of eating poo!

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a small puppy beagle dog waiting at The Beagle Welfare Scheme in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Beagle Welfare Scheme handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Beagle Welfare Scheme will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Beagle Welfare Scheme early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
