Adopt Cocco

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

mixed breed born 12/2019 about 31cm tall Compatible with: male dogs, female dogs and cats Children not yet tested Cocco is a charming little mixed breed who immediately conquers all hearts with his fluffy fur, big dark eyes and gentle nature. He looks like a little dog from a picture book at first glance - but behind his cute exterior is a dog who longs for nothing more than finally finding a home full of love and security. Currently, Cocco is living with our friends in the Spanish animal shelter and is patiently waiting there for his people. For a small dog like him, the animal shelter is not a place where one should stay for long. Between noise, chaos and many other dogs, exactly what Cocco so urgently needs is often missing: closeness, security and the feeling of having arrived. Cocco shows himself to be compatible with other fellow animals and gets along well with his dog companions. He was also okay during the first contact with cats, making cohabitation with cats quite conceivable. This already brings many good prerequisites with it to fit harmoniously into a new home. You can feel with Cocco that he is an even more gentle and refined dog who seeks people who meet him with patience, love and understanding. People who do not only see him because of his sweet look, but also recognize the little heart behind it. Once he has gained trust, he will certainly be a loyal companion who enriches his home with much joy and love. For Cocco we wish a home where he can finally rest, experience nice walks, get to know a soft dog bed and feel every day that he is wanted and loved. Who would like to give this little treasure the chance for a new life and show Cocco how beautiful a real home can be? Cocco is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered and checked by the vet. He has also been tested for Mediterranean diseases and brings an EU vaccination certificate with him to his new home. All the pictures we have of Cocco are put together in a slideshow above on the page. Please take the time and look at the pictures, or click on them to view the next picture. Contact:. Mischling geb. About Cocco

What life with Cocco looks like

Cocco is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cocco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cocco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cocco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cocco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cocco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cocco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cocco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
