Cory

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 7 years

Country of origin: Hungary We have a DNA breed identification report. In June 2020, the beautiful Cory simply ended up on the street. Unfortunately, no one knows where or how he had been living until that point. What is certain, however, is that Cory has undoubtedly experienced more shadows than sunshine and has been deprived of a dog-friendly life. The young dog not only carried a poorly healed fracture in his right front leg but also deep wounds on his neck. This suggests with considerable certainty that he was kept on a chain. The wounds on his neck have been treated and have now fully healed. This sweet, attentive male dog delights in every bit of human affection, eagerly learns the basics of doggy etiquette, and is well-balanced and friendly. However, he doesn't particularly like other dogs and is therefore looking for a family where he can be an only pet. Update from July 20, 2026: During mentoring days, Cory is finally allowed to leave his kennel—and he thoroughly enjoys it. At first, he runs around joyfully, sniffs extensively, and lets off his energy. Far enough away from the shelter, he becomes calm and balanced. On the leash, he walks nicely, pays attention to his human, and responds to their signals. Once his need for exercise is satisfied, he shows himself as a contented, calm, and friendly dog who repeatedly seeks closeness, snuggles up, and enjoys being petted. Despite spending so much time in the shelter—six years already in the kennel—Cory has remained positive and hopeful. He trusts people and patiently waits for his forever family. Medical update from July 20, 2026: We recently took Cory to a specialist. His right front paw is deformed, and unfortunately, there’s nothing more that can be done about it. Additionally, elbow dysplasia was diagnosed on his left side. The specialist advises against surgery. When walking, Cory manages remarkably well; you’d hardly notice anything unusual about him. Yet, as soon as he stands still, he keeps lifting his paw repeatedly. It’s hard for us to watch that this impairment cannot be corrected any further and that Cory will have to live with it. Since Cory is a mixed-breed listed dog, if you’re interested, you’ll first need to check the local regulations regarding dog ownership in your place of residence. Cory is ready for travel. Heartfelt thanks to Vanessa Gubler for taking on Cory’s sponsorship! A big thank you also goes to Seline Müller, who is supporting Cory with another sponsorship.

About Cory

What life with Cory looks like

Cory is a adult english bulldog dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cory, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cory?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cory on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cory if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cory already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cory isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cory and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
