Adopt Didi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 15 years

Hello dear bipeds. I am Didi and have been living here in the animal shelter for a very long time with the support of my wonderful godparents. I still need my loving godparents, because I don't know if my plan will work out as I wish. I'm trying now, after my long time in the animal shelter, to find my own humans. I would really like to become a family dog. They say I'm a great old girl, and since I've already gained some trust in you bipeds, I want to take the adventure. I wish for a quiet household and people who are very good with shy dogs. I can walk on a leash, but it shouldn't be a noisy environment, like in a city. I look like a princess. Not too big, with beautiful soft fur and roe brown shiny eyes, and I'm still quite fit for my age. So that you know why I am the way I am, here is my story: I was born with my brothers Aiko, Flori and Simson in September 2011 right in the middle of Aegina. Admittedly, we had a nice view on the mountain, but a small dog also needs something else. Especially when winter approaches, it becomes particularly difficult. And it's also dangerous. There are bad people, fast cars and hunters who shoot around on weekends. That makes a small dog scared. Fortunately, we were discovered by the people from AP, caught and brought to Renate. It was very nice there, we had a warm hut, medical care, delicious food and fresh water. But we didn't let the people near us. But how could we know that the bipeds are nice? During our imprinting phase on the street, we only had ourselves and lots of bad experiences. That's why we immediately crawled into the farthest corner of the hut whenever a person came near us. Then we sat there and told each other how scary these bipeds were. But the people, not dumb at all, immediately realized that something had to be done. So we, the four-leaf clover, were surprisingly brought to the animal shelter and separated. But it was only for our own good. Each of us got a nice dog friend who was happy when the bipeds came. Very strange, I thought, but maybe you can copy that. My brother Aiko was the fastest of us. He learned quickly and has already had a nice home for a long time. My two brothers Flori and Simson have just slipped over the rainbow bridge, and now I am the last leaf of the clover. Who has a big heart and a lot of patience to give me a home for my remaining years?

About Didi

What life with Didi looks like

Didi is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Didi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Didi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Didi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Didi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Didi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Didi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Didi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
