Roma, 28 aprile – Una vittoria senza precedenti e un traguardo rilevante per il nostro Paese, la liberazione dei beagle di Green Hill , destinati alla vivisezione, ha segnato una svolta nella lotta contro la sperimentazione animale, ma soprattutto, ha cambiato il futuro di ben 2639 cani. Ridotti a meri oggetti, senza dignità e rispetto, i beagle attendevano il loro triste fato all'interno dei capannoni di Montichiari, in provincia di Brescia. Il 28 aprile 2012 ha inizio la liberazione, gli animalisti riescono a scavalcare le recinzioni del'allevamento, si introducono nei capannoni e portano finalmente alla luce del sole mamme e cuccioli fino ad allora segregati. Sgomento e timore, queste le sensazioni leggibili negli occhi dei cani che per la prima volta hanno toccato l'erba e ricevuto una carezza colma d'affetto. L' Ass.ne Animalisti Italiani Onlus vuole oggi ricordare questo momento che ha messo fine alle sofferenze di questi animali che, altrimenti, sarebbero andati incontro ad un triste destino. L'occasione, è propizia per ricordare quanti altri animali nel mondo subiscono la stessa penosa sorte. Nell'Unione Europea sono 12 milioni le vittime animali sacrificate ogni anno in nome della sperimentazione. Un massacro che non avrebbe ragione di essere attraverso l'adozione di metodi alternativi, e una scelta consapevole nei prodotti di largo consumo. “ Perdurare nel trincerarsi dietro la scusa della ricerca scientifica – afferma Walter Caporale , Presidente dell'Associazione – è solo un pretesto per voltarsi da un'altra parte ignorando la sofferenza e il patimento di esseri viventi, che come tali, hanno pienamente diritto ad una vita dignitosa e rispettosa, tanto quanto gli esseri umani ”. “ Quando siamo entrati – racconta invece il Vice Presidente PierPaolo Cirillo – n on potevamo credere ai nostri occhi: decine e decine di cuccioli rinchiusi in gabbie piccolissime. Oltre 30 di noi sono entrati per liberarli, e mentre eravamo all'interno invitavamo altre 3000/4000 persone a fare altrettanto, che però sono rimasti a guardare. Avremmo potuto salvare un numero maggiore di cani. In seguito, grazie alla Procura, anche gli altri sono stati liberat i”.
