Adopt Gris

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Report from the Grisette Dog Shelter in the Swiss Jura: GRIS, Breed: mixed breed, born: November 16, 2025 Size: growing (as of May 3, 2026, 40 cm / 7 kg) Interaction with children: suitable from 12 years Suitable as a second dog: yes More info: Gris and her sister Blue (who found a home in Germany) were abandoned as puppies on a woman's property in Spain. They are most likely Bodeguero mixed breeds. Since the woman has several dogs herself, Gris and Blue were able to grow up in a pack and thus gain important social experiences. Now GRIS is staying with us at the dog shelter until she finds a new home. She is a beautiful, lively girl ready to explore the world. GRIS gets along well with other dogs, is friendly and curious. We are looking for a rural home for her, ideally as a confident only dog. GRIS's diary with more photos, videos, and information can be found on our homepage: www.grisette.ch. If you would like to meet GRIS informally and could offer her a suitable home, we would be happy if you request our informal application form (if the answering machine, please leave a message, we will call back) or by email: info(at)grisette.ch. Completing and returning the form is a prerequisite for scheduling a meet-and-greet appointment. GRIS is vaccinated, microchipped, and tested and cleared for Mediterranean diseases. Her adoption fee is 600.—. Prior to placement, she will stay at the Grisette Dog Shelter, Sandra Scheidegger Ruepp, Route de Lucelle 27, CH – 2947 Charmoille JU, www.grisette.

About Gris

What life with Gris looks like

Gris is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gris, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gris?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gris on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gris if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gris already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gris isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gris and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
