Hedda

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 11 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Hedda has found a home! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. The beautiful Hedda was brought to us by dog catchers with her mother Gertie. The lady who had been taking care of her passed away. Unfortunately, that's all we know about Hedda's past. She hasn't had much good experience with humans, as she is very skeptical around them. Currently, she cannot be touched. It is very clear that her skepticism is strongly exacerbated by the stress in the shelter. Therefore, it is even more important that she be placed in an experienced home or a foster home as soon as possible. She gets along well with her fellow animals. A confident single dog could provide her with a safe haven, but that is not a must. The pretty female dog, who somewhat resembles a silver Labrador, is currently 10-11 months old and measures 45 cm. She is unlikely to grow much more. Like us, Hedda is now going through puberty. During this time, she will test her owners and push the boundaries. She is looking for someone who can stand by her during this hormone chaos and provide her with the necessary understanding and support so that she can grow into a great dog. Positive dog training and loving consequences will help her get through this time well and emerge as a strong team. For Hedda, we are looking for experienced and patient people who can give her time to settle in and help her slowly gain trust in humans. Her home should be quiet, and there should be no children living there. We are sure that with the right support, Hedda can become a great companion who someday can enjoy the benefits of a human-dog relationship. Hedda will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas in her new home. She will of course bring her EU pet passport with her. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros and only after a positive assessment, the pretty female dog would also be very happy to go to a foster home. Many thanks to Carina G.! You named Hedda. Status: 01.04.

Vielen Dank Carina G.! Du hast Hedda ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 01.04.2024

About Hedda

What life with Hedda looks like

Hedda is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hedda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hedda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hedda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hedda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hedda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hedda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hedda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
