Hulk &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

At first glance, Hulk might appear to be programmed with his name, but appearances can be deceiving. Our newest arrival is not a bear-strong superhero, but actually an absolutely friendly, loyal giant baby. Hulk’s life began at the animal shelter, as he landed there as a tiny puppy. A family quickly adopted the sweet, little dog, but when it was revealed that such a young pup wanted to play and be occupied, and would sometimes chew on a shoe if left alone for too long, the enthusiasm for the lovable fellow soon waned. A year later, Hulk found himself unceremoniously back at the animal shelter, and he suffers there greatly. The once lively spring chicken has lost a lot of weight, he looks sadly towards the exit, for even if it wasn’t the right family for him: it was HIS family, and he misses his home, despite everything. In some moments, however, Hulk forgets his pain and then he emerges: the real Hulk, who joyfully leaps when someone throws a ball for him, expecting to continue the game for the whole afternoon. But Hulk is not an uncontrollable, hyperactive plaything: he comes to rest very well and enjoys it when someone can spare a few minutes to scratch his ears or his belly. Our absolutely wonderful, sunny chatty head with the slight silver glint has a lot of stress in the loud and hectic environment of the animal shelter, but he still gets along well with his fellow animals. He avoids conflicts and we can envision him well both as a second dog and as the sole ruler of the home couch (which he will share with one or more strokeseeking bipeds). Hulk now wants to arrive in a quiet and loving home where he can be sure he will never be simply given away again. So, smitten? Completely understandable. Hulk is looking forward to your post!

DE·Show original

About Hulk &#8211

What life with Hulk &#8211 looks like

Hulk &#8211 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hulk &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hulk &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hulk &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hulk &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hulk &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hulk &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hulk &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
