Kimmy

Female · Adult · 7 years

A mixed-breed spayed female dog, born 2019 Height: 45 cm | Weight: 15 kg Children: see text | Cats: yes | Dogs: yes vaccinated | chipped available This animal can be adopted after suitable space is found and sufficient familiarization. Kimmy is a 2019-born mixed-breed female dog who came to our animal shelter as part of an official takeover. The female dog lived with her previous owners in a rural area, together with a second large dog and a cat. The medium-sized dog lady is initially quite shy around strangers and needs some time to warm up. With her trusted people, she shows her friendly and nice nature. On a leash and in direct contact, she gets along well with most dogs. Only behind the fence does she make a lot of noise, which can be managed with some training. Kimmy walks nicely on a leash and driving in the car is no problem for her. Kimmy showed strong itching when she came to us and had skin problems. She receives Apoquel in the shelter due to suspected allergy, with which she has recovered well. Kimmy shows herself to be very friendly with us, but due to her initial skepticism towards people, small children in the same household would probably not be very ideal. We would like to find a rural home for Kimmy with possibly existing dogs.

About Kimmy

What life with Kimmy looks like

Kimmy is a medium-sized adult cat waiting at Tierheim Dechanthof in Mistelbach.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Dechanthof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Dechanthof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Dechanthof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
