Magpie

Mixed Breed · Female

This beautiful lady is Magpie, a former stray thought to be around one year old. With her big amber eyes and super-silky coat, she is a real beauty, but her main attraction is how friendly she is. She literally doesn’t stop purring, is very playful and absolutely loves human company. She’s always looking out of the window so would probably suit a home with a secure garden where she can roam. However feathered friends beware – she’s a bit of a hunter. She has a really good appetite and is very good using her litter tray. Fine with children – dogs unknown. She has been spayed, vaccinated, deflead and wormed. Will make a lovely pet and is definitely ready for her forever home. We are using cookies to give you the best experience on our website. About Magpie

What life with Magpie looks like

Magpie is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Magpie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Magpie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Magpie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Magpie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Magpie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Magpie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Altrincham & Cheshire early rather than rehoming privately; they know Magpie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
