Norris

Mixed Breed · Male

25 kilometers from Warsaw, in the outskirts of the capital, in the agglomeration of the big city, right next to the world of educated, seemingly conscious people, in the municipality of Ożarów, Norris was found. A dog with a piece of chain around its neck, with sick ears, loose teeth, and changes on its side, as well as during the walk. In this big world, no one, but no one, noticed the misery and the huge dog suffering. Norris was found just like that, on the street. It didn't appear to be rescued; it appeared out of nowhere. Norris is not an old dog. It is a broken dog. Since May, we are restoring it to health. And we are doing better and better. Physically, Norris is coming out of the woods. But can it be restored emotionally in such a short time? Recently, Norris is going for walks. It walks very nicely on a leash, doesn't pull. It walks forward, step by step, paw by paw. Stroller? Car? Dog behind the fence? Train? Nothing of these things is scary for Norris. It sniffs, takes care of its physiological needs. The dog is perfect. So, what are we afraid of? That Norris won't be noticed: it doesn't look into a person's eyes, it doesn't jump with joy, and it doesn't enjoy our sight. How bitter the memory must be in a person who must see that it is indifferent to them? 🙁 When looking at Norris, it's hard to see any joy or liveliness in him. Norris is exceptionally calm. It knows how to function together with other dogs. In contacts with people, it is unbothered. And itself is incredibly touching. It arouses the need for engagement and care towards it. Norris needs a loving home very much. A home that will awaken in him the joy of life. Recently, Norris has given us a small, barely noticeable wag of its tail before a walk. 🙂 Does this mean that soon it won't be able to wait for a walk and caresses?

PL·Show original

Od maja przywracamy go do zdrowia. I idzie nam to coraz lepiej.

About Norris

What life with Norris looks like

Norris is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norris, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norris?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norris on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norris if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norris already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norris isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norris and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
