Adopt Nukka

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 8 years

Name: Nukka – the Eager Breed: German Shepherd Color: Brown-Black Age: July 1, 2018 Gender: Female Spayed: Yes Traits: Hello, dear dog lovers, my name is Nukka (25 kg / SH ca. 62 cm) and I am finally searching for a home where I can truly belong! I came to the animal shelter because my owners unfortunately could no longer take care of me. Despite this, I have a very attentive and friendly nature towards people. I thoroughly enjoy snuggling with my trusted people, and I am generally curious about strangers, though sometimes I can be a bit unsure. In my future home, older children should not be a problem for me, as long as they accept that I sometimes also need some space and quiet. Additionally, they must be solid and steady, as I can also be very feisty and stormy. Fellow animals, I usually meet with friendliness, but it always depends on the chemistry. The caretakers say that I already have a pretty good basic obedience and am also very pleasant outside. However, I surely have a lot of potential and there is still much for me to learn. For this reason, I wish for people who are eager to have a wonderful companion like me and are also motivated to work with me and challenge me both physically and mentally. I am always at the front with that! I also know how to ride in the car and usually handle it with bravado, but I do not like to be left alone. How do I imagine my forever home? I would like to be a single princess, but depending on the chemistry, I could also imagine sharing my home with a confident second dog. Additionally, I wish for a relatively quiet household, as too much hustle and bustle does not sit well with me. If you would like to give me the necessary security and never pass me on again, I am very looking forward to your completed application form. About Nukka

What life with Nukka looks like

Nukka is a medium-sized adult german shepherd dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nukka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nukka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nukka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nukka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nukka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nukka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nukka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
