Adopt Ralfas

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Hi! I'm Ralfas! I'm 8 years old and I think it was already clear in my childhood that I would end up in a shelter. My owners took me as a small puppy. They raised me at home. I was a happy little puppy: I barked a lot, I slept a lot and I chewed a lot. My owner got fed up. Instead of teaching me to chew outside, they put me out in the yard to live. They set up a kennel and locked me in. I thought I would stay there forever. I was wrong. My owners separated and after some time, my owner took me back to the apartment. At first, I acted like a fool there, but then they introduced me to the crate and I learned to calm down in my safe place. She really tried and I thought I would stay there forever. Again, I was wrong! I'm a strong dog and I react a lot to other dogs outside, so my owner couldn't handle me. Instead of teaching me not to react to those dogs or to react more calmly, my owner gave me to the shelter. Right away, I showed all my negatives: reactions to dogs, and finally even the fact that I guard my food bowl. Now they feed me from their hands :) That was my goal all along, but they still don't understand :D The people are split into two camps: one side says I'm a difficult dog, the other is my entire legal team, claiming I'm a wonderful dog who loves people, children, playful, and that I'm just not a big fan of dogs is something that my previous people simply couldn't handle. They say they will assign me some tough volunteer and he will make me a calm, intelligent dog who walks by dogs without any problems. At first, I was scared I might stay here forever. But so far I've been wrong many times, I hope I'm wrong now. If you share my post, it would really help me get closer to a future owner and surprise myself again. Thank you!

Hi! Aš Ralfas! Man 8 metai ir, man atrodo, kad jau vaikystėj buvo aišku, kad atsidursiu prieglaudoj. Šeimininkai pasiėmė mane mažą liauškį. Augino namie. ____________________________________

About Ralfas

What life with Ralfas looks like

Ralfas is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Linksmosios pėdutės in Lithuania.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇱🇹Adopting from Lithuania

Frequently asked

Adopting Ralfas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ralfas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Linksmosios pėdutės handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ralfas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ralfas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Linksmosios pėdutės will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ralfas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ralfas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Linksmosios pėdutės early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ralfas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
