Rita

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 4 years

I would like a home filled with love and kindness! I need a resident dog to help me settle in and I have never met cats. I would like a secure garden to spend time in. I’ve never been on walks before and will need a gentle introduction. I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. I will be spayed before going to my forever home! 07-11-26 Rita is a very nosey and curious lady who has come to us from a breeder and loves to be involved in whatever you are doing! She is always interested in what is going on around her and is keen to explore the world, although she is still a little timid and not quite confident in herself just yet. We think with some time to settle in and some love and TLC, it shouldn't take too long for her to come out of her shell. Rita currently relies on her kennel friends for comfort, so she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can look to for reassurance as she learns all about home life and builds her confidence. We would consider homing her with gentle, dog savvy children and she would benefit from adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs. Rita absolutely loves her toys and would be delighted to have plenty of them to play with in her new home! She has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she learns about things we often take for granted, such as house training and walking nicely on a lead. With a little time, encouragement and lots of love, we think Rita is going to blossom into a wonderful little companion. She is such a lovely girl with a curious nature, and we think she is going to absolutely love being part of a family! Rita has a travel document. Rita has been given the Gift of Life by Yael Levey This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Rita

What life with Rita looks like

Rita is an adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
