Teddy

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Even though the Rescue in Stintino is already more than full, Paola and Pierpaolo always try to help as much as possible. So, the appeal for help for these two female dogs also reached them: Two tourists had discovered the two during their holiday in a remote area between Alghero and Porto Torres, far away from any civilization, by the roadside. Probably, a shepherd had left them there – far from their home field, so they wouldn’t find their way back – and left them to their fate. In other words: They should simply die there. The female dogs lay in the bright sun, no shade anywhere, under which they could have sought shelter, no water source, only dry bushes and trash. Paola and Pierpaolo provided them with water, but then had to reluctantly continue their journey. However, the female dogs wouldn’t leave the tourists’ minds. And so, they went back to the spot the next day – and found the female dogs there again – with empty eyes, even more powerless than the day before. Without any resistance, the female dogs were taken in and brought into the car. Fortunately, the tourists had also met a woman who immediately arranged a meeting with a vet in Alghero. There, it turned out: Both female dogs are true fighters with a great will to survive. After the examination, they allowed themselves to be leashed without any problems, went trustfully into the holiday accommodation, where the tourists bathed, cared for, fed, and strengthened them. Through a local contact, the female dogs could still be accommodated in a small pension that night, so they didn’t end up in one of the nearby kennels.

About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
