How do I contact the shelter about Vini?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vini on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Vini if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Vini already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Vini isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vini and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Vini

German Shepherd · Male · Young · 1 year

Vini was surrendered to Melampo because his owner unfortunately could no longer keep him at home. Vini is a beautiful dog with a friendly character. He is very affectionate and attached to people. He enjoys the attention of the volunteers and seeks their closeness. Vini is active and currently a bit nervous. This is understandable after arriving at a shelter, as the new environment can be unfamiliar and make him a bit disoriented. With time, he will surely gain more peace and security. It is possible that not much time and attention was invested in him in his previous upbringing. Nevertheless, Vini seems to be obedient and wants to please people. With patient and loving guidance, he should therefore have a lot of fun learning together. Vini also gets along very well with other dogs. He gets along with both males and females, does not seek conflicts and is sometimes even a bit submissive. Free run in a larger dog group is no problem for him. We wish Vini a loving, active home with Shepherd friends, where he can arrive in peace and have people by his side who give him security, time and clear, loving guidance. People who like to be with their dog and learn together with him could find a great companion in Vini.

DE·Show original

About Vini

What life with Vini looks like

Vini is a young adult german shepherd dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.
