Womble

Cocker Spaniel · Male · Young · 1 year

Womble is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures and provide him with physically and mentally stimulating enrichment to keep his busy brain occupied and given him all of the love he deserves. He is a sweet boy who likes his space, so would like to live in an adult only home, if there is a quiet area in the home he can take himself off to the rest and relax, that would be the best. Womble likes his home and family all to himself so would like to be the only pet, he would however be happy with polite and friendly walking buddies. Womble is smart cookie with a wide resume of tricks under his paw, he knows “sit”, “paw”, “crawl” and “down”, he can be encouraged to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. Womble settles nicely and can be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Womble will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Wonderful Womble is a 1 and a half year old Cocker Spaniel who loves a good adventure, whatever the weather. His favourite thing in the world is water, he will jump into paddling pools, wade through streams and even bound around in the rain. Playtime is super fun with Womble, he absolutely loves toys, he will chase around with them, bring them back for a game of fetch and often will drag them into the pool with him for a dunk. This super fun guy is ready to fins his new home.

About Womble

What life with Womble looks like

Womble is a young adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Womble, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Womble?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Womble on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Womble if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Womble already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Womble isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Womble and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
