Lucky har ett namn som är ganska ironiskt, eftersom hon inte har varit tur i sitt unga liv..... Hon adopterades tidigare från fältet av en äldre kvinna som inte hade tiden eller viljan att ta hand om Lucky – för det antagandet att den skulle underhålla barnbarnet under besöken. När Lucky sedan blev för mycket att hantera, övergavs hon till en hemlös person, igen utan medel att riktigt ta hand om denna unga flicka. Mötta många gånger, har Lucky blivit lite nervös vid möten med nya människor i början, men vi ser att hon snabbt binder sig till en person som tar hand om henne. Just nu bor hon i ett familjehem med en mamma och dotter, och får bra omsorg. Lucky älskar familjens barn och de går väl på promenad tillsammans. Tyvärr vet vi ännu inte mycket om Lucky's upplevelser med andra hundar, eller hur hon skulle bete sig i en stadsmiljö, vad som gör henne rädd, vad som gör henne glad – men vi vet att nästa hem Lucky går till, måste vara hennes slutliga hem. Därför söker vi just nu ett erfaret och tålmodigt hem för att återställa Lucky's liv, ge henne den lilla hundtid och ungdomsperiod som hon har missat. Lucky är mycket klokt och lär sig snabbt, hon är också (ljuvligt) matmotiverad, så tränning med henne är trevlig och lätt. Eftersom hon har blivit flyttad många gånger, blir hon koncentrerad på "sin människa" som det enda stabila i sitt liv, så vi rekommenderar att den framtida familjen börjar tidigt med självförtroende och oberoendeträning, för att undvika separationsångest. Eftersom hon just nu bor mycket fint med en ungefär 10-årig pojke, kan vi föreställa oss att hon passar in i en familj med en lugn, utbildad elev. Samtidigt måste föräldrarna vara erfarna och medvetna om tiden och lugnet det kommer att ta att ta emot en hund i sin familj som har blivit försummad och kastad runt många gånger – långsam, jämn rutin, upprepade aktiviteter, återkommande saker och trygghet kommer att vara nyckeln för Lucky att börja sitt liv på nytt. Hennes skuldhöjd är 58 cm och vi testar just nu henne för Medelhavssjukdomar.

Lucky's name is quite ironic, as she has been anything but lucky in her young life..... Once living in the campo with an elderly woman who did not have the time nor will to take care of Lucky - for the supposed purpose of the entertainment of the grandchild during the visits. When Lucky then became too much of a nuisance, she was handed over to a homeless person, again without means to properly take care of this young girl. Then Lucky moved around between 2 foster families, both of which left the country, and now she is in the shelter…. She has been living together with children throughout her life, and would make a lovely addition to a family with children in different ages. She bonds with humans really quickly, and is ready to work, train and play with you. As a young energetic girl, once Lucky gets her turn in the free-running dog park which she loves, she runs like a Rhodesian! She concentrates very quickly, reacts on her name and she is easy to work with especially because she loves snacks! Lucky loves to meet other dogs and is very social and playful, now that she has had her first professional socialisations sessions. Her friend in the shelter is Schnuki, a playful young male, and Lucky has also already met a variety of other dogs. She could be a single dog of a family, but in this case we would request from her new family that they absolutely must continue with social canine walks with Lucky, so she can build relationships in the canine world, and continue to develop her communication skills with other dogs. At the same time, she would probably be veyr happy to join a home with a social, playful male dog, perhaps also female, but for the moment she has mainly been tested with males. She loves to go on walks with volunteers and is always happy to see humans. She is intially pulling a bit on the leash, but once she has had enough exercise to let our her energy, her leash-walking improves significantly. For Lucky we are looking for a patient and active home, to restart her life, and even though she is an easy dog in a home environment, then in order to secure that her next home really is her forever home, we do require previous dog experience. Having been passed around countless of times, she does get focused on "her human" as the one constant thing in her life, so we recommend her future family to start early on with confidence and independence training, in order not to develop separation anxiety. As she was recently living with an approximate 10-year old child very nicely, we can imagine she could well join a family with calm, educated children. At the same time, the parents must be experienced, and aware of the time and calmness it will take, to receive a dog into their family that has been abandoned and thrown around many times - slow, steady routines, repeating activities, reassurance from familiar things will be the key for Lucky to start her life fresh. Her shoulder height is 56cm. Lucky is currently positive on Leishmania and receiving medicine, which her forever family would need to still continue until testing negative for Leishmania. Shelter team will always support families while continuing the treatment.
