Lucky est un nom fort ironique, car elle n'a pas eu de chance dans sa jeune vie... Une femme âgée l'a adoptée d'abord du camp, sans avoir le temps ni la volonté de s'en occuper - censément pour divertir le petit-fils pendant les visites. Quand Lucky est devenue trop difficile, elle a été donnée à une personne sans-abri, encore sans moyens de s'en occuper convenablement. Passée d'une main à l'autre, Lucky est un peu nerveuse lorsqu'elle rencontre des nouvelles personnes au début, mais on voit qu'elle s'attache très rapidement à quelqu'un qui s'occupe d'elle. Pour l'instant, elle est logée dans une famille avec une mère et une fille, et elle est bien traitée. Lucky adore l'enfant de la famille et ils font de longues promenades ensemble. Malheureusement, nous ne savons pas encore beaucoup sur les expériences de Lucky avec les autres chiens, ou comment elle se comporterait dans un environnement urbain, ce qui l'effraie, ce qui la rend heureuse - mais nous savons que la prochaine maison de Lucky doit être sa maison définitive. Nous recherchons donc actuellement une famille expérimentée et patiente pour redémarrer la vie de Lucky, lui offrir la période de chiot et l'époque de la puberté qu'elle a manquée. Lucky est très intelligente et apprend rapidement, elle est aussi motivée par la nourriture (délicieuse), donc l'éducation avec elle est plaisante et facile. Étant passée d'une main à l'autre plusieurs fois, elle se concentre sur "son humain" comme étant la chose constante dans sa vie, nous recommandons donc à sa future famille de commencer tôt l'entraînement en confiance et en indépendance, afin d'éviter l'anxiété de séparation. Comme elle vit actuellement très bien avec un enfant d'environ 10 ans, nous imaginons qu'elle pourrait bien rejoindre une famille avec un enfant calme et instruit. En même temps, les parents doivent être expérimentés et conscients du temps et de la sérénité nécessaires pour accueillir un chien abandonné et jeté plusieurs fois - des routines lentes et régulières, des activités répétées, des assurances provenant de choses familières seront la clé pour que Lucky puisse commencer une nouvelle vie. Sa hauteur aux épaules est de 58 cm et nous testons actuellement son taux de maladies méditerranéennes.

Lucky's name is quite ironic, as she has been anything but lucky in her young life..... Once living in the campo with an elderly woman who did not have the time nor will to take care of Lucky - for the supposed purpose of the entertainment of the grandchild during the visits. When Lucky then became too much of a nuisance, she was handed over to a homeless person, again without means to properly take care of this young girl. Then Lucky moved around between 2 foster families, both of which left the country, and now she is in the shelter…. She has been living together with children throughout her life, and would make a lovely addition to a family with children in different ages. She bonds with humans really quickly, and is ready to work, train and play with you. As a young energetic girl, once Lucky gets her turn in the free-running dog park which she loves, she runs like a Rhodesian! She concentrates very quickly, reacts on her name and she is easy to work with especially because she loves snacks! In the shelter we have not yet worked on socialising Lucky with other dogs, as she arrived to the shelter on heat, so that is not a good point of time for canine sessions, but we see that the more dogs she sees and passes by, the less she reacts by barking or getting agitated, so we believe that she is simply lacking positive experiences with other dogs and can potentially live together with 1 or more other dogs, both in the shelter and in ther forever home. We’ll keep testing that. She loves to go on walks with volunteers and is always happy to see humans. She is intially pulling a bit on the leash, but once she has had enough exercise to let our her energy, her leash-walking improves significantly. For Lucky we are looking for a patient home, to restart her life, and even though she is an easy dog in a home environment, then in order to secure that her next home really is her forever home, we do require previous dog experience. Having been passed around countless of times, she does get focused on "her human" as the one constant thing in her life, so we recommend her future family to start early on with confidence and independence training, in order not to develop separation anxiety. As she was recently living with an approximate 10-year old child very nicely, we can imagine she could well join a family with calm, educated children. At the same time, the parents must be experienced, and aware of the time and calmness it will take, to receive a dog into their family that has been abandoned and thrown around many times - slow, steady routines, repeating activities, reassurance from familiar things will be the key for Lucky to start her life fresh. Her shoulder height is 56cm. Lucky is currently positive on Leishmania and receiving medicine, which her forever family would need to still continue until testing negative for Leishmania. Shelter team will always support families while continuing the treatment.
