Adopt Aiza

There were two of them, an inseparable duo - Pacha and Aiza. Both owners wrote a farewell letter from life, placed it next to the dog's papers and description, left the apartment and disappeared. The police are still looking for them. Meanwhile, we, the shelter, started looking for Aizai and Pacha new homes. Both together. We were sure we would find, regardless of the dogs' large size and age. The dogs came to Latvia with their owners from Russia at the end of 2021. Although the description left by the owner about the sweethearts never reached our hands, we collected information about both ourselves. The dogs had been well cared for and loved, they had grown up and lived together all their lives. Pacha (a Central Asian Shepherd breed, 7 years old, 60 kg) had once undergone a leg operation, and there are rods in them. Aiza (mixed breed, 11 years old, 40 kg) had already suffered from a tick-borne illness in Latvia, which caused muscle paralysis, leaving one side of her muzzle skewed - as if Aiza was always smiling. Also, her paws are sensitive due to arthritis. Nothing indicated that, but unfortunately, one day Pacha suddenly felt bad. Her heart stopped... And Aiza was left completely alone in this world. Now Aizau has overcome the confused sadness. The dog is very kind, warm-hearted, obedient, and orderly. She has lived with a cat and gets along well with other dogs. If somewhere in a home they long for a very nice dog and are not afraid of her age - you are welcome to meet Aizu. You will not regret this meeting...

Aiza (bezšķirnes, 11 gadi, 40 kg) jau Latvijā pārslimojusi ērču pārnēsātu slimību, kuras izraisītās muskuļu paralīzes dēļ viena purniņa puse palikusi šķība – it kā Aiza vienmēr smaidītu. Arī viņas ķepas ir jūtīgas artrīta dēļ. Nekas par to neliecināja, taču diemžēl kādu dienu Pačai pēkšņi kļuva slikti.

About Aiza

What life with Aiza looks like

Aiza is a senior dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aiza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aiza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aiza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aiza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aiza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aiza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aiza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
