Makss

Male · Young · 2 years

Four puppies - Makss, Elī, Lee and Rūta (already adopted) - share a fact that will affect their entire lives, it will be more felt by one, less by another, namely, the little ones did not receive human proximity at the most critical age of their lives. Until three months old, the puppies grew up in the woods near some houses on the Livonian side. The shelter found them in their own little bodies, big scaredy-cats, who had to start the difficult socialization path, getting used to being near humans. With the help of volunteers, we have done everything possible in such circumstances, the rest is now in the hands of the new owners. Therefore, the puppies are looking for homes with patient and experienced dog-owning owners, who will nurture their love and train them. Makss - a tri-color terrier - is a gentle-tempered tricolor. At first, he will be afraid of everything unknown, but once he gains courage, he will blossom into a lovely carefree. With a boy, before going home, you need to drive around to get acquainted, as well as to understand for yourself - what work with his training and education awaits you and whether you are ready for it. Max seems to be more suitable for life in a private house and maybe even as a second dog. When the fears are overcome, Max will love you from his whole small big tricolor heart, he will be faithful and obedient, but the initial period will be full of socialization work. Medium in size, slender build, 15 kg.

About Makss

What life with Makss looks like

Makss is a young adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Makss, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Makss?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Makss on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Makss if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Makss already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Makss isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Makss and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
